Navona Underground Experience – The Domitian Stadium

Overview
Step beneath the bustling streets of Piazza Navona to discover one of Rome’s most fascinating hidden treasures — the Stadium of Domitian, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located approximately 4.5 meters below street level, this underground archaeological area is the only known example of a masonry stadium in ancient Rome.
Built in the 1st century AD by Emperor Domitian, the stadium once held up to 30,000 spectators and hosted athletic competitions inspired by Greek traditions, including running, boxing, discus, and javelin events.
Explore the ruins at your own pace with a multilingual audio guide, 3D reconstructions, video installations, and informative panels that bring the ancient arena to life.
